The History of Mount Zion Apostolic Bible College

September 5, 1988 marked the birth of Mount Zion Apostolic Bible College (MZABC). This momentous institution was formed through the instrumentality of men of high esteem – Dr. Joe Nelson of Parkersburg Bible College (PBC) and Dr. Ivan Evan also an affiliate of PBC. It was at the end of an annual General Convocation that these dignitaries planted the seed that Mount Zion Apostolic Church should host a Bible College in the city of Toronto. Upon this directive, Bishop C. O. Ricketts and the officers of Mount Zion Apostolic Church met and full support was given to pursue this initiative.

Dr. Cawley (now Bishop of Mount Zion Apostolic Church of Canada), Evangelist McGann (now Pastor of Meadowvale East Apostolic Church) and Sister Powell worked tirelessly over the next four months to develop the infrastructure to launch the Bible College.  Shortly after, Sister Mills joined the team as the secretary.  The Parkersburg Bible College under the leadership of Dr. Joe Nelson – International President, provided significant materials, guidance, support and accreditation for the Bible College.

January 4th, 1989 commemorated the commencement of Mount Zion Apostolic Bible College and the church has never been the same!  Through dynamic and powerful teachings, many souls received the Holy Ghost; numerous individuals were baptized in Jesus name and countless received deliverance during the classes, thus fulfilling the prophetic declaration made by Dr. Nelson.

From a small beginning of fifty students, to date over eight hundred students have enrolled in various courses and programs. Many of who were conferred with credentials within areas of Christian Education, Religious Administration and Theology through the accrediting College – Parkesburg Bible College. These credentials include Certificates, Diplomas, Associate Bachelor, Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate degrees.

Under the direction of Dr. Cawley – Dean of Studies of Mount Zion Apostolic Bible College, other Bible Colleges were initiated in various cities in Canada and the USA in locations such as Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal and Brooklyn, NY.  In addition, the Bible College has also extended its reach internationally in England, and the Cayman Island. Currently, there are two off-site lecture centres at Meadowvale East Apostolic Church in Scarborough, ON and Triumphant Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) in Etobicoke, ON.

There has always been a yearning for the Word of God. Many students have been enriched, extremely blessed and inspired in these classes; as a result, they have informed others of the Bible College, this is evident in the increased yearly enrollment.

As Mount Zion Apostolic Bible College continues to facilitate a deeper and more meaningful Christian walk for its students through the enriched Word of God, we look forward to your enrollment in the upcoming courses and solicit your continued prayers and support.
